Pirate Themed Bedroom Decor Ideas

Yaar! So ye be lookin' to make yer very own Pirate themed bedroom do ye? The traditional pirate theme is loved by kids of all ages and genders, but especially boys, which is why it makes such a cute bedroom theme for them. Lets run through the basics of what you need to create your own Pirate themed bedroom.

If your young buccaneer is a toddler then you really can't miss out on the Pirate Ship Toddler bed, shaped like a real pirate ship! It even has a built in toy box, which is pretty cool. 

Otherwise there's plenty of cool pirate bedding to choose from. The one on the right is one of my favorites, and you can even get a matching window valance and decorative pillows for it, which give you the complete pirate look.

For wall color I recommend either going with a shade of blue or a map-like shade of yellow like Weston Flax or the more bold Yellow Highlighter, but loads of colors can be made to work with the right decor. My little brother had an orange pirate themed room when he was 7, and I can definitely see a bold red working well with a lot of what I've seen!

No matter what you pick, you'll also need to cute art to decorate your walls. Pirate themed wall decals come in all different flavors, from imitation pirate maps, realistic pirates pictures to more cartoony pirates. Wall plaques are another great decorative option, especially my personal favorite: a wooden ship wheel!

Pirate Furniture

Next up you can check out some savvy pirate themed furniture. There's styles for buccaneers of all ages: the one above would look great in a younger child's room, while this decorative table is perfect for playdates. Some pieces, like this array of pirate themed furniture would look fantastic in any bedroom! 

Pirate Chests and Accessories

You can't have a pirate themed bedroom without at least one pirate chest in it to store your child's swag and booty! My favorite is the one on the right, which is cast in designer resin around a wooden frame and just screams quality.

However, luckily you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for a pirate chest if you are on a budget, since there are plastic ones and even inflatable ones (I own an inflatable one which I've filled with chocolate coins, its awesome!) as an alternative to the wooden and more fancy sets.
