Beach Themed Bedroom Decor Ideas

Harbour House Crystal Beach Bedding
Looking to bring a breath of fresh air to your bedroom? Why not choose a refreshing sea breeze to lighten up a dark and stodgy winter room or bring new life to the summer. It's bright, it's cheerful, and it is a very popular theme for master bedrooms all over the world. This is my guide to all of the best bedroom decor for pulling off the look!

First of all, you will need some beach themed bedding to form the centerpiece of the room. There are many different styles available, from shell themes, tropical artwork and sandy palm tree themed pieces. On this page are just a few of my favorites, and you can find more incredible beach themed bedding here.

Kona Comforter Set
By far my favorite piece of beach bedding is the Harbor House Crystal Beach collection featured at the top of this page, a bright and modern design which comes with a comforter, a bedskirt and two pillow shams. I would pair it with a white set of sheets or any shade of blue. You can also get a similar look with a more rustic feel with the Seashell Beach House bedding above, which comes with a quilt, two pillow shams, a three beautiful decorative throw cushions.

Palm tree bedding is relatively common, coming usually in a green and white design or a sand-color. I much prefer the sand colored beddings, and out of those, I recommend checking out the Kona Comforter set! You can get the matching sheet set for it here.

If you are painting your room to match the theme, there are really three ways to go. The classic look is a light pastel color, such as a sandy beige or a baby blue. Alternatively, for an ultra-modern look, shades of white look great with darker furniture. Lastly, for something seriously bold, bright summer colors work very well, such as neon blue, bold orange or a sunny yellow.

and Sand in Your Shoes
With the walls painted up, have a couple of choice wall decorations add personalization to your wall space, but don't go overboard. The simpler and more realistic the decoration, the better for this theme. 3D art work with simple color schemes like the Sealife Box Art above works very well, regardless of whether you've gone for demure or bold colors on your walls.

Froomer Nautical Fishing Net Seaside
Wall Beach Sea Shells Decoration
There is also a lot of 'real' art out there, the sort that incorporates items you might actually find on the beach, such as proper shell art or the unique and interesting fishing net hanging decoration featured on the left. They are a wonderful way to bring the magic of the seaside into your home. You can even make your own shell art if you have access to shells: check out this handy book.

I always recommend decals when it comes to decorating bedrooms, as they are a great way to change the look and feel of a room without having to make a permanent decision: no marks if you want to take them down! My favorite decal is the quote and starfish art on the right: it's very cute and calming.

Santa Cruz Wicker and Rattan 4 Pc. Bedroom Set
Shell Two Door Cabinet
If money is no object, why not go all out and replace all the furniture in your bedroom with something a little more apt? The best materials for beach bedroom furniture is wicker and rattan. My favorite is the wicker look, and above is a whole set of bedroom furniture that fits the theme perfectly. You can get a wicker storage cubby to go with it too if you need even more storage space.

If rough wicker isn't your thing, go for wooden furniture. Driftwood can look lovely with light bedding and decorations, but I would avoid it if you are going for very bold colors in your walls or bedding. Light white woods also look beautiful, like this gorgeous distressed bed frame or the incredible two door storage cabinet on the right.

Sarasota Seashells Rug
Seashell Frame Mirror
Last but not least, it's time to add those finishing touches to the room with some little bits and pieces, like rugs, mirrors, curtains, clocks, and so one. A must have is some fake or real shells to use as ornaments on your cabinets and shells, and you can find some lovely looking ones here.

Beyond that, the sky is the limit. I've included a couple of accessories here - if you went for the two door cabinet above be sure to get the matching mirror for it on the right too! I also love the seashell rug featured above.

Curtain Chic Seashells
Lace Swag, White
As well as these, other fun accessories that I like include a scrap wood-style waste-paper basket, these cute wall hooks shaped like sandals and this cute beach themed picture frame to immortalize all of your favorite holiday memories. Pick your favorites, and be sure to shop around to ensure you find everything you need and want to make your room perfect.

So there you have it! That is my guide to decorating a beach themed master bedroom. I hope you found some great ideas and have a lot of fun decorating. If you enjoyed this post and would like to see more, be sure to check out the rest of my blog for all of the best themed bedroom ideas on the net!

Top Disney's The Little Mermaid Themed Bedding Sets for Girls

The Little Mermaid Twin Bedding Sea Dreams
So, I was shopping about in preparation for a Disney's Little Mermaid themed bedroom decor ideas post, and there were just too many adorable bedding sets for me to have to just choose one or to. That's why I've decided to devote a whole post to them!

Disney Little Mermaid Shimmer
and Gleam Bedding
First of all, featured up above, we have the gorgeous turquoise delight that is the Sea Dream bedding set. It's got a very Hawaiian feel to it don't you think? I love the silky, shimmering texture of the bedding too, it looks incredibly unique.

Watercolor Ariel Bedding
Love the flowers and plants that the land under the sea is covered in? You might like the very pretty Princess Ariel themed bedding on the right. I love the glistening detail on Ariel's mermaid tail: the great thing about these bedding sets is just how beautiful the artwork on them is.

If you love deeper colors, then take a loot at the wonderful white bedding on the left. Ariel looks truly beautiful in this art, and it would look wonderful in any little princess' bedroom. It's got an irresistible sense of calm to it, don't you think?

Sea Princess Ultra Soft Microfiber 2-Piece Comforter Sham Set
Disney Little Mermaid Princess
of The Waves Blanket
The next one, featured above, isn't technically official Little Mermaid merchandise, but its so beautiful and would work so well with Princess Ariel themed decor that I just had to include it! Its part of a series that turns you in various fantasy characters while you sleep - perfect for mermaid themed dreams.

Disney's Little Mermaid Sea Dance
Comforter & Sheet Set
But back to bedding featuring our leading lady. I really like the background pattern on the Shimmer and Gleam bedding featured on the right, and as usual the artwork of Ariel is absolutely stunning. Flounder and Sebastian look adorable too! Any little princess is sure to adore this look.

If you do buy the Shimmer and Gleam bedding set, I recommend also picking up the very cute Princess of the Waves blanket on the left. It matches perfectly with the Shimmer and Gleam sheets and lets you mix the colors up a bit.

Most Princess Ariel bedding is blue, but if blue isn't your style, don't worry. Check out the Little Mermaid Sea Dance bedding collection on the right, which is an amazing cute mix of pink and lilac for all the lilac-loving girly-girls out there. I love the flower and starfish detail on the sheets; its so cute!

Ombre Little Mermaid Bedding
On the left is a pretty unique look that I found - a more pop art style of bedding. Its made of super soft velvet so its really comfortable to sleep in. There you go! My top favorite Disney's The Little Mermaid themed bedding collections for girls. I hope you found one that is just perfect for you or your little princess, and have a great time with it. Beach Themed Bedding Ideas

Beach Themed Bedding Ideas
A great way to spruce up your bedroom in the summer is with a bit of beach themed bedroom decor and some lovely tropical bedding. There's loads of different types of beach bedding to turn your bedroom into a sandy paradise, and I'm going to tell you about some of my favorites.

Sea Shell Beach Bedding

Firstly, a really classic way to bring a bit of the seaside home into your bedroom is with some sea shell themed beach bedding sets. They come in all different styles and colors. Some have only a few shells accenting gentle block colors, and for others the shell decorations are the centerpiece, but either way they look perfect in any beach themed bedroom.

Patchwork Beach Bedding

An easy way to bring color and variety into a beach themed bedroom, as well as give it a very lively and unique look is with patchwork beach bedding. This type of bedding will allow to combine lots of bright colors, beach themed imagery and interesting patterns together into one beautiful bed set.

Striped Beach Bedding

Quilt Set

Striped beach bedding is always a good choice for a sandy beach themed bedroom. Thick and wavy stripes with sea-side colors evoke the feel of gentle waves, and they often come with decorative shams featuring fishes or shells to add an extra special touch.

You aren't just limited to blues though. I've seen a green and yellow striped bedding set that would look fantastic in a beach themed bedroom! So make sure you shop around and get the color that would look best with the rest of your bedroom decor.

Palm Tree Beach Bedding

Kona Comforter Set
Palm trees are a classic symbol of the beach and tropical climates. That's why a palm tree themed piece of bedding is a good way to brighten up you bedroom and lend it a airy, calm and sunny feel. Palm tree themed bedding is one of the most common types of beach themed bedding available, and is available in plenty of colors and styles. This means you are bound to find one that's right for you and your bedroom.

Tropical Beach Bedding

Lastly is some beautiful tropical bedding, inspired by Hawaiian themes and nature. These bedding sets usually feature tropical and Hawaiian  beach side flowers and other unique patterns (such as the woody cars and surfboards on the right!) and darker, richer colors than most beach bedding sets, which tend to be very sandy colored or light blue.

If you want a really stand-out piece of beach bedding, this style might be right for you.

Happy Decorating!
